Hello! Welcome to My Bio Page

(MUSIC!! FANFARE! FIRECRACKERS!)

Tom Edwards has written four plays, many demo scripts, and has acted in in a lot of plays in his career.  Tom also performs as an amazing voice talent and film actor.  Some of Tom’s recent roles for film include: ‘Jet Boy’, with Dylan Walsh (“Nip and Tuck”), ‘Monte Walsh’ with Tom Selleck, and he was directed by Dave Thomas (SCTV) in ‘Intern Academy’.  He has had principal roles in many independent films, commercials, voice cartoons and more.

Tom began his acting education at Bishop Grandin high school in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, in 1976.  Three years of high school drama and music nurtured his artistic senses, confirming he was heading in the right direction.  But Tom dabbled in more than acting in plays. Tom was also thrust into the world of punk rock with a band called “The Hot Nasties”. (Named after a porn film.  Now that’s rock and roll.)  Tom felt the rebellious and wildly unpredictable nature of the entertainment world flowing through his veins.

After some time out of high school, Tom finally decided to go to the University of Calgary for a Drama degree. (The very thing his parents didn’t want him to do)  It was there that Tom truly discovered real acting and improvisation, even trying his hand at sketch comedy for the first time.   After graduation and a couple of plays in Edmonton, Alberta, Tom decided that it was time to move to Vancouver, B.C. and get more involved in film.  Moving there with $700 dollars and a Volkswagen Beetle, Tom managed to land an interesting part in a film called, “Terminal City Ricochet”, a few commercials and a dark comedic play.  But Vancouver proved to be a tougher market than Tom anticipated so he moved back to Edmonton, with a Beetle that now had no reverse gear and, not surprisingly, no $700 dollars to boast of.

Upon his return Tom became involved with Improvisational comedy, and also joined a sketch comedy group there.  It was this journey that exposed Tom’s talent for comedic writing and acting.  Through this group Tom became involved in a soap-opera improv group called “Die Nasty” and has been with this amazingly funny troupe for thirteen years now.  This form of entertainment combines strong acting skills with top-notch improvisation skills.  One day Tom hopes he may have these skills…seriously though, you’re never as good as you think you are, you just hope you can come up with a funny line nine times out of ten and stay employed.
